Description

Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, commonly known as DSIP, is a naturally occurring nonapeptide originally isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits during experimentally induced sleep. Its amino acid sequence is composed of Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu.

DSIP has been characterized as a multifunctional neuropeptide and is studied in laboratory research involving neuroendocrine signaling, circadian biology, sleep-related pathways, and physiological stress responses.

In experimental models, researchers have examined the influence of DSIP on neuronal firing activity, sleep architecture, and communication between serotonergic, GABAergic, and glutamatergic neurotransmitter systems.
