Description

MT 2 10 mg, commonly known as Melanotan II, is a research grade synthetic cyclic heptapeptide derived from alpha melanocyte stimulating hormone, commonly abbreviated as alpha MSH. It is studied as a non selective agonist across melanocortin receptor subtypes MC1R through MC5R.

Its cyclic lactam bridged structure and modified amino acid sequence provide greater stability than naturally occurring alpha MSH, making MT 2 a useful reference compound for research involving melanocortin receptor pharmacology and peptide design.

In laboratory models, MT 2 has been used to investigate melanogenesis and pigmentation related signaling in melanocyte cultures. Activation of MC1R may stimulate adenylyl cyclase, increase cyclic adenosine monophosphate levels, activate protein kinase A, and promote CREB phosphorylation.
